UNIVERSITY OF KENT GROUP – NEWS
The University of Kent’s Amnesty International society has been focusing this term on the ‘Campaign to Stop Killer Robots’. They are hoping to get Kent Union to pass a policy in support of a ban on the development of Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems and to guarantee all research conducted at the university will only be used for peaceful purposes. They have also held meetings on the current protests in Iran, including a collaboration with the Film Society to show the Iranian animated film ‘Persepolis’ and at their most recent meeting, took part in the Write for Rights campaign.

CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL DONATION TO AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL
We received the following by email to our Treasurer from Amnesty International;
You may already know but Canterbury Cathedral have decided to donate £2500 to Amnesty International UK as part of their annual ‘St Catherine’s Audit’. I know the Canterbury Amnesty Group have done a lot of work with the cathedral down the years so thank you for your role in this. I’m not sure if anyone in the group was responsible for nominating Amnesty UK but even if they weren’t the candle display and other events/activities will have helped them make this decision. It’s a very generous contribution and will make a big difference in these challenging times.
