We are part of the organisation Amnesty International UK, standing up for human rights across the world – wherever justice, freedom, fairness and truth are denied.
Our local group is focusing on the Philippines – check out the ‘Campaigns’ page above to find out more information about the situation in the Philippines and what we are doing to help protect and defend Human Rights.
We also sponsor a perpetual candle for Amnesty International at Canterbury Cathedral (left).
In 2017 a link was established between Soroptomists International Canterbury and Canterbury Amnesty Group, in recognition that both groups share many goals and that our work, particularly on women’s issues, can be more effective if we support each other. Newcomers are always welcome!
If you have an interest in human rights and would like to get involved with Amnesty Canterbury’s work, come along to next group meeting. All information about upcoming events can be found on the ‘events’ tab above!
We hold group meetings at 7:00pm on the second Wednesday of every month (except August) at Friends Meeting House, 6 The Friars, Canterbury, CT1 2AS. Check out the ‘Events’ page for more information.
